Consultation & Fees

The initial consultation is typically a one hour meeting with Attorney Nikki L. Marr. The fee is $300.00 for the first hour. If the consultation goes well beyond one hour, additional consultation time will be charged at a rate of $300.00 per hour. After the initial consultation, we will provide our best estimate of the time and related fees to represent you on the matter you brought to the consultation. We look forward to meeting you and talking it out.
How to Prepare for Your Consultation
Billing

Each situation is unique. In order to get the best value from the initial consultation, it helps to bring items with you that allow us to assess and advise appropriately. If the issue bringing you to the consultation is a pending court date, you should bring all the documents you received from the court and the opposing attorney (if applicable) to your initial consultation. We will review the documents together and determine next steps.

If you are seeking remedy for an issue, you should bring any supporting documentation and potential evidence (video tape, photos, audio files, correspondence, etc.) to your initial consultation.

If your issue involves determining your financial resources (child support, divorce, custody matters), you should bring evidence of your earnings and expenses. Bring your tax returns and supporting documentation (bank statements, bills, etc.) for the past 3 years. If you are unable to bring everything to the initial consultation, it is okay. We will work together to collect the neccessary documentation as we move beyond the inital consultation and prepare your case.

Before we begin representation, we must receive your retainer and signed fee contract. The initial retainer depends on the case, but usually ranges from $2,000 to $5,000.

Once we begin our representation, the hourly rate is $300.00 per hour. We then bill our time against the retainer, and at such time that the retainer is close to being depleted, we may require an additional retainer if it appears the case has become more time consuming than initially anticipated. Of course, where it is appropriate, we will seek to have the other party reimburse you for your attorneys' fees.
